On macOS, you can easily take multiple screenshots of either a part of the screen or the full screen using built-in keyboard shortcuts or the Screenshot tool.

Here’s how to do it simply and efficiently:

Method 1: Keyboard Shortcuts (Quick and Manual)

macOS provides shortcuts to capture screenshots instantly. Each screenshot is saved to your Desktop by default (or clipboard if you add Control).

  1. Full Screen Screenshot:
  • Press Command + Shift + 3.
  • The entire screen is captured and saved as a .png file on your Desktop (e.g., “Screen Shot 2025-04-06 at 10.00.00 AM.png”).
  • Repeat as needed for multiple full-screen shots.
  1. Partial Screen Screenshot:
  • Press Command + Shift + 4.
  • Your cursor turns into a crosshair. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture, then release.
  • The selected portion is saved to your Desktop.
  • Repeat for additional partial screenshots.
  1. Save to Clipboard (Optional):
  • Add Control to either shortcut:
    • Command + Control + Shift + 3 (full screen to clipboard).
    • Command + Control + Shift + 4 (partial screen to clipboard).
  • Paste (Command + V) into an app like Preview or Word, then save manually.

Method 2: Screenshot Tool (More Control)

The Screenshot app (introduced in macOS Mojave and later) lets you take multiple screenshots with options in one interface.

  1. Open the Screenshot Tool:
  • Press Command + Shift + 5.
  • A small toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen.
  1. Choose Capture Type:
  • Full Screen: Click the “Capture Entire Screen” button (icon with a screen outline).
  • Partial Screen: Click the “Capture Selected Portion” button (dotted rectangle), then drag to select an area.
  • Window: Click “Capture Selected Window” (window icon), then click a specific window.
  1. Take Multiple Screenshots:
  • After selecting your capture type, click Capture (or press Return) to take the shot.
  • A thumbnail appears in the bottom-right corner—click it to edit/mark up if needed, or let it auto-save to your Desktop.
  • Repeat the process (adjust the area or type as needed) for more screenshots.
  1. Adjust Options (Optional):
  • Click Options in the toolbar:
    • Change save location (e.g., Documents, Clipboard).
    • Set a timer (5 or 10 seconds) for delayed captures.
    • Toggle “Show Floating Thumbnail” off for faster repeats.
